Ivy Grove w/ Paul Patton
Ivy Grove is the acoustic trio of John McCoy (vocals, guitar, ukulele), Kathy Kitzmann (vocals, guitar), and Don Gulish (drums, percussion). They performed together from 2007 through 2012 as part of the band Chrome Folk Bar-B-Q, then re-formed as a trio in the fall of 2015. They play songs they like (and they know the audience will like) from various genres and from songwriters like John Prine, Lucas Nelson, Cidny Bullens, Nanci Griffith, and the Hummingbirds. Youll also hear some originals from Ivy Groves Kathy Kitzmann.
Opening the show for Ivy Grove will be Trinity House founder Paul Patton. Paul wears many hats (in addition to the one in this picture): professor, playwright, director, essayist, author, and songwriter. Kathy Kitzmann writes: When I played in the band Dell and the Roughcuts we covered many Paul Patton songs: If I Were Popeye, I Met Her At Vic Tannys, Wont You Come to My Church, and Where Did My Friends Go?, to mention just a few. The titles alone let you know that Paul is a unique songwriter, as will this chorus from
Could This Be Heaven Could this be heaven? Could this be hell? Might be Livonia, Jesus, I cant tell.
Pauls songs and stories are sure to delight you. Ivy Grove is thrilled to have Paul join us on February 23rd!
