Disney's Beauty and the Beast
"Be our guest!" at St. Mary's Theatre's biggest musical ever! Step into the enchanted world of Broadway's modern classic, "Disney's Beauty and the Beast," an international sensation that has played to over 35 million people worldwide in 13 countries. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the original Broadway production ran for over 13 years and was nominated for 9 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If he does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. This "tale as old as time" is family theatre at its best and will be adored by audiences of all ages! "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" will be performed 10 times over three weekends at Stockton Civic Theatre: February 15- March 3, 2019 and is appropriate for all ages.
The musical is directed by Kevin Costello, with musical direction by Josh Landin and choreography by Evelyn Barney. Technical direction and set design is by Brian Johnson, with costumes by Annette MacKay and Carol Wyrick, make-up and hair by Elizabeth Costello, lighting by Nikki Pendley and sound by Rich Matheson. All performances will be held at Stockton Civic Theatre, located at 2312 Rosemarie Lane in Stockton: Friday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday February 17 at 2:00 p.m.; Friday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday February 24 at 2:00 p.m.; Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m. Patrons are advised to purchase tickets ahead of time.
