1/27/19 SOLO SUNDAYS Marga Gomez, Joe Klocek, Steve Budd, Barbara Brady
.
MARGA GOMEZ ------------------------------------------- "The Spanking Machine"
It's a cold December afternoon in Miami in the parking lot of Havana Harry's. After 40 years, Marga is meeting the first boy she ever sloppy kissed, back when he was a closeted altar boy and she was in love with a nun. Before her flight to Miami, he texts that "by the way" he's had Parkinsons for 10 years but it's not too bad. When he pulls up in the LYFT he shouts out the window "What's up Sugarplum?!" Once out of the car he moves with great effort on his cane. Suddenly he begins to twitch and shake wildly, his eyes rolling back and his tongue hanging out until Marga catches him in her arms. "I'm joking" he says. "Let's get some lunch"
JOE KLOCEK --------------------------------------------- "Press One If You Want Advice From Yourself in the Future, Now!"
Did you ever wish that you could give your younger self advice about love, work and other critical experiences in your life? On his 50th birthday, Joe Klocek has the unique opportunity to do just that. The only problem is, Joe isn't sure what to tell himself. Can Joe convince Joe to avoid a toxic relationship, vodka and what occurred on the night of his 13th birthday? The life he saves tonight might be his own
STEVE BUDD ---------------------------------------------- "What They Said About Love"
She's always had crushes on guys from New Jersey. She knows her future husband is going to be from New Jersey. She just knows it. Then she meets this guy from Baltimore. That won't work. Will it?
BARBARA BRADY ----------------------------------- "Determining the maximum safe speed of a parent going around the bend"
Barbara's not a church-goer, but when her father, the authoritative polymath autodidact genius engineer/patriarch says she's going to mass with him, she goes. She wants to believe, not in religion, but in Dad, who seems to be going strong at 83. Then, this simple excursion reveals how a father and daughter struggle to keep up appearances, and begins to signal that time of life when their roles will flip.
