The Chalk Art of Letting Go with Kara Hoblin
Saturday, March 23 | 3-4:30 PM | $10 ($7 for Friends of SAC)

ALL AGES

Join North Fork artist and TAKEOVER! resident Kara Hoblin for a special encore of her popular "Chalk Art of Letting Go". Make your own chalk creation inspired by something you would like to let go of. Attendees will work off their own small chalkboards that will be therapeutically erased at the end of the session.

Kara Hoblin received her BFA in Photography from SUNY New Paltz. She is a Freelance Artist and Photographer who lives in Greenport NY. She specializes in custom chalk art and illustrations for restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores, weddings, and open to exploring anything else that comes to mind! Her first coloring book, "A North Fork coloring Book" is now available in select stores on the North Fork of Long Island!

Kara finds inspiration in the emotional intricacies of the human psyche. She created "The Art of Letting Go," an interactive chalkboard based art show that encouraged all the participants and viewers to erase her work alongside her. "Chalk came into my life when I needed to learn a very important life lesson, how to let go. It's always astonishing and amazing to me that if you allow yourself to be open to change... when one door closes another opens. Letting go as cliche as it sounds is one of the most important lessons we can learn. Chalk provided me with that outlet, as an artist to let go of my work, as a lover to let go of heartache, as a human to let go of insecurity, loss, hate, pain, etc. And that doesn't mean throwing them away or discarding those emotions, it simply means letting life BE. Taking all of those emotions and instances, growing from them moving forward into the light and out of the shadows."
