A poetry slam is a competition between poets performing original work judged by members of the audience. This poetry slam is organized by Jacob Winterstein, Kai Davis and Jasmine Combs.
Come perform, watch or judge.
**Poets wishing to compete should arrive before 8:45 to put their names in the hat. All poets who put their name in the hat pay $5. At 9:00pm poets names will be picked out of the hat. Some poets will be pre-selected.**

VENESSA MARCO
Venessa Marco is an Afro Caribbean writer by way of Cuba and Puerto Rico. Marco holds a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from the California State University of Los Angeles. Marco has been featured on The Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, Complex Magazine, The Fader as well as The Brilliant Idiots podcast hosted by Charlamagne The God and Andrew Schulz. Her work appears in The Breakbeat Poets Vol. 2 Black Girl Magic anthology, Sugarcane Magazine, No, Dear Magazine, Vibe Viva and Tidal. Marco currently resides in Harlem, New York pursuing her PhD at Columbia University
