BACH OR NOT BACH
In 1743, The famous Silvius Leopold Weiss, lutenist and theorbist in the Dresden Orchestra and one of the highest paid musicians in Europe, visited the home of JS Bach along with his student Kropfganss. Bachs son reported that some extra fine music was heard at the Bach household during this visit. In fact not many know that Bachs BWV 1025 Suite for Violin and Continuo was originally a Weiss lute solo. This program will recreate the moment when Bach composed a violin contrepartie to Weisss original creation. Also included: music for violin and lute b Haydn and Rust.
