Stevie and the Bluescasters
Stevie and the Bluescasters is a 3-piece acoustic blues band from Philadelphia. The band members are Stevie Nolan (guitar and vocals), Paul Nolan (guitar and mandolin) and Seth Holzman (harmonica). The band plays unique arrangements of all kinds of blues: old country blues including Piedmont, Delta, Texas and Chicago blues; old Gospel; old country; and even some R&B. They also include a bit of International Blues Mourna (Creole Portuguese from Cape Verde), Irish Sean Nos, Portuguese Fado and Ladino.
The band performs these many different styles with virtuosity and fluency while laying bare the emotional depths of a song. Over the course of one set the beauty and intensity of their music can elicit a range of audience reactions from pin drop silence to dancing and joyous shouting. The Bluescasters have played venues and festivals throughout the tri-state area and New York. They have opened for or shared the stage with Ana Popovic, Shemekia Copeland, David Bromberg, Bernard Allison, Tab Benoit and others. After opening for Ana Popovic, she stated, You guys are the real deal!
The band released the album "All Kinds of Blues" in 2017 and it has gotten airplay on The Blues Show on WXPN, Soundings on WDVR, Rhythm Breakdown 2 on WRDV-FM and Morning Feed on GTown Radio.
