Christina Watson, Love Songs for Valentine's Day
Popular vocalist Christina Watson returns to the Jazz Cave Saturday, February 15 at 8pm for a special performance in honor of the season, "Love Songs for Valentine's Day." Joining Christina will be the Lori Mechem Trio.
Originally from southeastern Kentucky, Christina moved to Nashville in 2001 after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in Boston. Since her arrival in Music City, her versatile voice and love of all cultures have gained her entry into a wide array of musical situations, including appearances at various jazz festivals and at numerous venues in the US, France, Belgium and Sweden. She has released four CD's as a leader - 2004's "All About Love," 2008's critically acclaimed "A Flower Truly Blue," in 2014, "Passage," and most recently an album of standards, "So This Is Love." Christina also sings soprano in the Nashville based vocal jazz quartet 3rd Coast Vocals.
Christina is Vocal Jazz Professor at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music, where she directs the Blair Jazz Choir and teaches private jazz voice lessons. She is a frequent guest vocalist with the Nashville Jazz Orchestra, the big band with which she has recorded two albums. Christina also leads her own a cappella women's group, the Nashville Belles, which performs locally to benefit a different charity each year.
