January 2019 Chapter Meeting
Meeting Topic: Urban Highrise Impact - History and Context of Church Street, Nashville TN
Senior Curator of Art & Architecture at the Tennessee State Museum, Jim Hoobler, will give a brief history of Church Street Park and the adjacent Anne Dallas Dudley Boulevard, from its initial development in the 1830's to today - a highly debated site in the urban core of Nashville. Join us as we revisit the importance of built context and the fundamental tension of urban design that arises when cities like Nashville navigate the growing pains of becoming an "it city."
