Danny Barnes and Jesse Withers
As a Texas native and one of bluegrass musics most distinctive and innovative performers, Barnes is known for blending together different sounds in order to defy labeling. His desire to pick up the banjo stemmed from a Grandpa Jones and Stringbean concert he attended as a child. Moved by the performance, Barnes was first inspired to learn how to play the banjo at age ten. He continued his musical endeavors at the University of Texas, where he focused his studies on audio production and discovered his passion for recording music. https://dannybarnes.com/
Hailing from Denver, Colorado Jesse Withers first heard Danny Barnes play with The Bad Livers in the late-1980's at Swallow Hill, a nonprofit roots-music school/venue that Jesse had taken lessons from since he was young. For 20 years, Jesse has been playing bluegrass bass with Portland's Jackstraw. Barnes/Jackstraw have collaborated on recordings and multiple live performances. Looking forward to this one....and the next!
