JAMIESON EAKIN - SONGS FROM THE EARTH
An evening of folk songs to feed the soul, with original music by Jamieson Eakin and traditional music featuring Zdravets, & Irene Markoff.
Irene Markoff will be performing a few traditional songs from Turkey.
Zdravets performs traditional (songs associated with calendar and life cycle rituals) and arranged music from the Balkans and Beyond (Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and Russia) with multiple voices and instruments.
During performances one can hear arrangements and composed folk songs a la The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices, the clashing, dazzling small intervals and rich ornaments of Balkan multipart village singing, and the microtones of Middle Eastern music.
