Drumhand in Victoria

In July, DRUMHAND embarks on its rst tour of western Canada to promote its
third and latest release, Cheer On The Sun. Their tour map is dotted with an eclectic list
of venues across Ontario, The Prairies, Alberta and British Columbia. With many tour
miles already behind them, this genre-defying ensemble is becoming increasingly known
for their energetic live performances throughout Canada and the US.

DRUMHAND originated as an effort to combine the circuitous rhythms of West
Africa, Cuba, India, and Brazil with the uplifting spirit of American roots music and jazz.
Fuelled by an array of drums and percussion, the groupʼs unique sound features
catchy horn melodies alongside solo and group vocals to inspire curious ears and
dancing bodies. Whether performing on stage for festival-goers; lling the dance oors of
nightclubs with sweaty bodies; parading through street parties; or, engaging listeners
with their interactive educational workshops, their music embodies an accessibility for
audiences of all ages

Local percussion supergroup led by master drummer Jordan Hanson, the Victoria Percussion Ensemble, and Victoria's samba kings and queens, Masala, kick off the evening of what is surely to be one of the summer's most memorable shows in the Capital.
