Double Feature: Cafe Negro and The Grand Maw - 2019 Asheville Fringe Arts Festival
CAFÉ NEGRO by Christian Prins Coen, Melvin Penn and Nazeer Artaud Café Negro. We like our coffee like we like our comedy. Black with a side of hiphop. These well-spoken tokens, will not come close to coddling you with their off the wall ignorance. Café Negro is the convergence of 3 people of color establishing themselves in a white world through comedy and hiphop. Its time to step away from the PC and enter the shoes of the POC.
DISTORTED REFLECTIONS created by The Grand Maw The Grand Maw is an Asheville NC based performance artist and activist. Founder/Director of the Gaping Maw Freakshow and ActOut. Twisting together irreverant gender bending performance art and socio-political expressions with sideshow inspired feats. Utilizing interpretive dance/theatre, uncomfortable subject matters, and extreme/provocative imagery to provoke or raise awareness, to both amaze and appall, and of course to entertain.
