Triple Feature: The Dance, Vessel, and Psyche - 2019 Asheville Fringe Arts Festival
The Dance A whimsical and emotional look into ritual, love and compassion between two unusual characters. This is a short physical theatre two person performance using Jacques Lecoq style Larval masks.
Vessel presented by Stewart/Owen Dance VESSEL is a solo contemporary dance work that explores humanity through the lens of immigration. Accompanied by an original soundscape created from anonymous interviews with real people, the dancer acts as a physical mouthpiece for experiences so visceral that words often fall short. Choreography by Vanessa Owen and Gavin Stewart Music and Sound Design by Gavin Stewart
Psyche presented by The Cardboard Sea Forbidden desires, mistaken identities, and intimate betrayals, love is a dangerous game. Psyche is a modern examination of Cupid and Psyche myth. This highly theatrical dance theatre piece is playful and light, modern and messy. Psyche strips away the artifice of theatrical performance and the metaphor of myth, and by doing so, seeks to lay bare the very real and very dangerous power of love.
