JFFA presents - Rosie and The Riveters
We are so excited to celebrate International Womens Day with Rosie & the Riveters (well, one week early). From Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, this appealing group has had sell-out shows all across Canada, they have performed for British royalty and, in 2016, were awarded a Saskatchewan Arts Award, a prestigious recognition for emerging artists.
Rosie and the Riveters unmistakable visual branding of red lipstick, pin curls, and overtly feminine costuming may be deceiving, but this is not a throwback band. Their latest album, Ms. Behave, embraces the feminist undertone of their moniker, Rosie the Riveter, in a way they hadnt previously; one that allows them to shed their please-all attitudes, take a purposeful stance and dare to be themselves. The band didnt originally intend to get political but opening a newspaper or watching the news these days made it impossible for them to see the status of women around the world and stay silent. Listen closely to hear playfully defiant lyrics and confident talk-back harmonies. Every word, note, and movement in their live show is done purposefully to empower and challenge.
