de Porres Dinner Series
We have two upcoming dinners. The first, de Porres SureƱa Spring, will be on Sunday, the 23rd, at 7:30 PM. We'll bring The South to Brooklyn with pickled pigs' feet and okra, buttermilk biscuits, fish dipped in cornmeal, Broadbent Kentucky country ham, my Grand Gala poundcake with strawberries and whipped cream. There may even be "palla walla", my Nana's mix of corn, okra, tomato, and peppers. Our main course, She-Crab Soup, comes courtesy of Edna Lewis who delighted patrons of Brooklyn's famed Gage and Tollner with this Carolina Lowcountry favorite. On the following Sunday, June 30th, at 7:30 PM, we'll feature razor clam ceviche, chili peppers, sugar snap peas, zucchini, crisp lettuce, quinoa fritters, and a fair bit of offal. For dessert we're serving lemon chess pie, a Southern favorite of myself and Pablo. There are spaces available for both.We'll begin with with a pre-dinner cocktail, strawberry daiquiris and palomas, respectively. Additionally, both dinners will be paired.
