Cathedral, Palace and Hearth - Music of the Middle Ages
World renowned performer and scholar Benjamin Bagby will be joined by local early music ensembles, Banquo Folk Ensemble, Dârya Persian Ensemble, Duo Corvi, and Ensemble Semel in presenting a range of music from the Middle Ages, including dramatic, sung renderings of poetry in Anglo Saxon and ancient High German, accompanied on harp and lyre; lively medieval dance music performed on reproductions of instruments from the time; traditional Persian music that dates back hundreds of years; and beautiful art songs from the height of the Middle Ages.
