Birch Pereira & The Gin Joints
Born out of a love of the early years of swing, americana and rock 'n 'roll, Birch Pereira & the Gin Joints is a band whose sound transports you to the time of speakeasies, honky-tonks and roadhouses. Fans, critics and deejays have delighted in frontman Birch Pereira's "old soul," tenor voice, his versatile upright bass playing and the high caliber of musicianship from each member of the Gin Joints.
Enjoy their first music video (in the left column) for a fun glimpse of their debut album "Western Soul" filmed by the amazing Garrett Gibbons at XXX Burger and Columbia City Theatre in Seattle!
"How Long (Until I See the Sun Again?)" words and music by Birch Pereira.
"I love this album. I love the sound of it. I love the feel of it. I love the idea of it." - Frank Gutch Jr, of No Depression
A group pulsing with rockabilly, the exploratory sensibilities of jazz, and tender lyricism of country-folk, Birch Pereira and the Gin Joints offer a little something every listener. Pereira thrives in the space between styles, mixing and blending the country, folk, and rock n roll music he was raised on with the jazz music he studied at University of Washington as a young adult. - Alexa Peters - The Seattle Times
