One of Leith's favourite sons returning for a hometown show at one of his favourite gigs, to welcome the new year, is becoming something of a tradition for Leith Folk Club and singer songwriter Dean Owens.
Armed with a searingly soulful voice, skilfully crafted stories and memorably heart-twisting melodies, Dean is a spellbinding and hugely entertaining live performer, with an emotional hurricane of stories, songs and banter.
Since his last appearance at Leith Folk Club "The Man From Leith" has been travelling - including touring the southern USA with dates including the outdoor stage where Elvis Presley had his first paid gig - you can bet Dean has a whole hatful of new stories to share with his audience.
He's also delighted that the title song from Southern Wind, his most recent (Nashville recorded) album, has been shortlisted for the UK Song of the Year Award at Americana Music Association - UK awards (2019).
The album has been included in several "Best of 2018" lists including by Ricky Ross's Another Country (BBC Radio Scotland), Ralph McLean Country (BBC Radio Ulster) and Americana-UK.
