Point of Departure: Dance Notation to Art to Dance
Noted visual artist, Peggy Badenhausen, created a series of Monotypes influenced by Dance Notation (Labanotation). These Monotypes became the inspiration for Ipswich Moving Companys latest new dances entitled, "Point of Departure". Artistic Director/Choreographer, Janet Taisey Craft and Badenhausen began their collaboration during the summer exploring the relationships between dance notation, Badenhausens Monotypes and the Companys choreographic process.
The Company rehearsed throughout the fall and winter creating a collection of seven dances that explore the elements and structure of dance notation and respond directly to the visual art images created by Badenhausen. Audiences will have the opportunity to see the interplay between the art images and the dances in performance.
Company members: Jessie Boudreau, Jenny Carlson, Danielle DiVito, and Tabitha Rodger perform the new works. An informal Talk Back with the audience will immediately follow the performances.
