Seeds to Table: Pennsylvania Dutch Foods and Foodways 1700-2019
Part 1: Exploration of the Pennsylvania Dutch Kitchen Garden - the seeds, and the ethnographic basis for traditional PA Dutch cookery. Powerpoint presentation. Part 2: Round table discussion - bring your questions! Part 3: The Pennsylvania Dutch Table: 25 Counties, 25 Cuisines! Powerpoint presentation. Discuss the highly rationalized nature of PA Dutch cookery, its class distinctions, and how it evolved within two generations into a distinctive cuisine with its own American identity. Part 4: Round table discussion - bring your questions!
This class will be held on the same day as Dr. Weaver's other talk, "Traditional Seeds: Our Past, Present, and Future." Those who purchase both classes will receive a free box lunch.
Cancellation policy: All class lessons must be planned by the instructor, therefore cancellations can only be refunded prior to February 18 (sales-end date). Refunds requested before that time will be issued via paper check, less a $20 non-refundable processing fee. We reserve the right to cancel a class due to insufficient registration. In that case, students can me another choice or receive a full refund.
