DATE: January 27
TIME: 1:00pm-5:00pm
COST: $20.00

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?
This workshop is perfect for any artist who is not familiar with QLab and wants to begin using the program, or looking to increase their knowledge.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
The session will go over how to input sounds all the way to looping, mixing, and manipulating cue sequences, with an opportunity to practice skills learned in the class by building your own soundscape using sound bytes sent by the facilitator.

The session will also go over using multimedia in QLab and how to input and playback media, however due to the limits of the free download, participants will only be able to practice building a soundscape. Please note, the class exercises will focus on sound cues.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO PARTICIPATE
To practice using QLab in the workshop you MUST bring headphones and have an APPLE COMPUTER with QLab 3 installed. A free version can be downloaded this link:

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR - NASTAZJA PALONKA
Nastazja has been involved with theatre for over 10 years, first learning QLab in the McMaster University Theatre program, being involved with sound design. She then went on to work with various companies in the Hamilton, and Toronto area as a stage manager and later working tech for the Hamilton, Toronto, and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Nastazja uses her skills in QLab programming to design soundscapes, input sound, and create an easier way of playing back audio cues for productions in a way that is convenient for stage managers or technicians running the show. She believes that learning QLab allows artists to have all their cues in one space, enabling a show to be easily transferable to different environments without needing other programs or means for playing back sound.
