El Presidente Film Screening
During the last days of the waning Spanish empire and the rise of America as a superpower in Asia, one Filipino general bravely fought for his people's freedom.
An epic biopic based on the true-life story of General Emilio Aguinaldo, El Presidente is the largest budgeted film in the history of Filipino Cinema. Lavish costumes and beautiful on location scenes immerse the viewer in turn of the century Philippines at a time when sovereignty was but a distant dream for a people caught between two colonial superpowers. Exploring this often neglected period in our countries' shared history, this screening is being held on the Centennial of the end of the Philippine-American War.
Director Mark Meily will be in attendance for post film Q&A
