Point Arena Music Fest
Arena Theater proudly presents the Point Arena Music Fest, four nights of something completely different, Friday August 22 through Monday August 25 -- Blues, Zydeco, 60s, & Folk-Rock. The series opens with Shana Morrison, a presentation of the 2008 Blues Series, on Friday August 22; Lisa Haley and the Zydecats on Saturday August 23; The Crockett Brothers: Back to the 60s on Sunday August 24; and The Waifs with Krystle Warren, on Monday August 25.
For the music lover with eclectic taste the festival ticket of four shows for $90.00 offers an exciting variety of high energy acts at a reduction from the price of individual shows. Tickets are available for the individual shows at $25.00 each.
Aug 22: The weekend opens with singer-songwriter Shana Morrison, the third performer in the 2008 Blues Series at 8:00 PM Friday August 22. Her blues musical style comes with a side of rock, and ingredients from country, R&B, and jazz, influenced by singing with her father Van Morrison in his Rhythm and Soul Review.
Aug 23: Grammy nominee Lisa Haley and the Zydecats brings progressive Louisiana music at its finest to the Arena Theater at 8:00 PM Saturday, August 23. Lisa has a traditional zydeco/cajun style and her bluesy vocals have been compared to Janis Joplin.
Aug 24: Local favorites, The Crockett Brothers, appear on Sunday August 24 at 7:30 PM. This reunion of the trio will take you Back to the 60s -- when they reached the heights of opening for the Beach Boys -- with their harmonies, singing their own "hits," and more memorable songs of the 60s and beyond.
Aug 25: The internationally acclaimed Australian band The Waifs bring their folk-rock sound on Monday August 25 at 8:00 PM. The Waifs honest songwriting, rollicking bluesiness, and the soaring vocals of Vikki Thorn (harmonica, guitar, vocals), Donna Simpson (guitar, vocals), and Josh Cunningham (guitar, vocals) have made them a hit with folk and roots audiences worldwide.
Lots of other Point Arena community events will accompany the Point Arena Music Fest for the enjoyment of locals and visitors.
