This summer we are workshopping Shakespeare's Henry IV directed by Robin Lynn Smith.
Our exceptional cast includes: Geof Alm, Kristina Austin, Trevor Boykin, Christine Marie Brown, Grace Carmack, Peter Crook, Steve Gallion, Reginald Andre Jackson, Jessica Jobaris, Anna Kasabyan, Andrew McGinn, Richard Padro, Carter Rodriguez, Rhonda J. Soikowski, Andy Tribolini, and Jesse Sherfey-Hinds. Original music will be composed by Engaged Theatre veteran Gino Yevdjevich.
Our Engaged Theatre program tours professional productions to the larger community playing for audiences who may not otherwise have an opportunity to take part in art. Attempting to realize the power of the theatrical event to bring about extraordinary communion between audience and performer is at the core of Freehold's mission. In 2014, our production of Shakespeare's Henry IV will tour to our partner organizations including Harborview, Monroe Men's Correctional Complex, Washington Correctional Center for Women, New Futures, Echo Glen Juvenile Detention Center, and Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Our event on July 10 is a great opportunity for YOU to see the work in process and be part of the telling of one of Shakespeare's most compelling and popular works. At the Open Rehearsal, you will get a chance to witness our exceptional actors' exploration of the play AND give your own feedback, too. Your feedback will be essential in informing the development of our work on Henry IV as we prepare for our full production in 2014.
Shakespeare's Henry IV (a new cutting by Reginald Andre Jackson) looks at the human necessity and ability to reinvent ourselves; asks how do we find the courage to break out of conventions that trap us and deaden our perception. A multi generational coming of age story, Henry IV characters are butting up against conventions of power, loyalty, honor, and leadership that are at odds with their human experience.
We look forward to sharing this workshop of Henry IV with you.
