Bernal resident, wine critic and writer Alder Yarrow (whose Vinography.Com web site is the world's most lauded wine blog) is kicking off a series of wine-focused events with 903 Restaurant on Cortland Ave., starting with a casual wine tasting event on Friday June 28th, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Alder will be pouring more than 20 top-flight wines to accompany passed appetizers created by the 903 kitchen. What are top-flight wines, you ask? These are wines that retail for between $50 and $150 that Alder has personally selected from Napa, Sonoma, Italy, France, and elsewhere. Alder will be available to answer your questions about these wines, or about wine in general.
This will be a casual, walk-around tasting of wines limited to 50 people due to the limited quantities of these wines. For the price of two glasses of wine at a wine bar, you can spend a couple of hours tasting some exceptional wines with Bernal friends and neighbors. Attendees will also get first dibs on seats at the upcoming Taste of Bernal wine dinners.
WHEN: Friday June 28th 6PM - 8:30 PM (drop by with your ticket anytime) WHERE: 903 Cortland Ave, San Francisco, CA 94110 WHAT: Walk around wine tasting and appetizers HOW MUCH?: $25
We hope to see you there!

MORE ABOUT 903 / MUTSUMI TAKEHARA Pastry chef Mutsumi Takehara started her career at La Farine bakery in Oakland before moving on to Chez Panisse in Berkeley. Later she moved to San Francisco and became the pastry chef at fine dining restaurant Rubicon. Most recently she spent 10 years as the pastry chef for Charles Phan at his iconic Slanted Door restaurant in San Francisco, winning many accolades. After moving to Bernal Heights and leaving the Slanted Door, Takehara opened Sandbox Bakery which has managed the trick of being one of the most renown bakeries in the city, while at the same time becoming an intimate fixture of the community.
903, which sits just across Gates Street from Sandbox is Takehara's (and her husband Mike Bradsord's) latest effort. This small restaurant offers a range of gourmet lunch options to eat-in or take-out, and offers take-out dinners, ranging across cuisines such as American, Japanese, Vietnamese, Mexican, and Thai.
