Caren Armstrong, Steve Meckfessel and Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon in the round
Singers, players and writers of the highest caliber, together on stage in-the-round. Join Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon, Caren Armstrong and Steve Meckfessel for an intimate evening of songs and stories... and the spontaneity that often results in some fabulous collaboration.
When you put songwriters together on stage, something magical always happens. You could find a tear in your eye, listening to spontaneous harmonies or guitar interplay - or you could be pitched headlong into a laughing fit at the stories they pull out of each other. Each show is different - each writer brings something new to the stage.
BEV BARNETT & GREG NEWLON Jumping the lines between acoustic soul and folk rock, Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon create a place where you can relax in the comfort of the groove and know you're going to leave smiling and just a little more hopeful. The first thing you'll notice is the blend of their harmonies, along with rhythmic guitar that backs their positive and compelling lyrics.
Songwriter Cosy Sheridan says "In a world of fast food and empty calories, Bev and Greg are real food. Their songs speak their truth and do it well."
The Santa Cruz Sentinel says they take a "sophisticated approach to their folk Americana." Ronn Owens of KGO just says "wow, that's smooth!"
CAREN ARMSTRONG Caren Armstrong's style references folk, country, blues, jazz, traditional and popular music yet is distinctively her own. Bay Area concert promoter Russ Jennings notes: "Caren has found a deeply original voice that the listener experiences as coming from within."
Stevie Coyle says "This dangerously honest, wickedly funny, and disarmingly vulnerable songwriter is "one of those rare musicians who plays and sings music from its bones on out. Caren's work has a visceral and deeply satisfying impact, which is invariably garnished with great good humor."
STEVE MECKFESSEL In the words of songwriter Claudia Russell,"Steve Meckfessel is one of those under the radar songwriters who, when you discover him, you think "lucky me!" Everyone should know his beautiful songs."
"Steve's impact as an artist combines a triple threat of fluid guitar playing, rich unforced melodies and a deep natural human insight." - Keith Greeninger
