 June 27, 2013

South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA), SC Organization for Organic Living (SCOOL) and Clemson University Sustainable Agriculture Program are joining together to bring you this GAP workshop on June 27th.  Good Agricultural Practices are aimed at minimizing or preventing potential contamination of food caused by the producer. Food safety should be included in a continuous system of quality control on all production practices so this training will help farmers regardless of whether they plan to become GAP certified or not.

Speaker Weatherly Thomas, Food Safety Coordinator with the South Carolina Department of Agriculture, will lead the training which will include food safety principles, putting together a food safety manual, a discussion of the GAP audit and then a mock audit at a local farm.
