Gastronomie 491 and The Joy of Cheese Present the Summer Pairings with Beer

Judging from the early June heat wave, summer is here with a vengeance! Thus, it's time to turn our attention to lighter, breezier beers and the cheeses that pair best with them. Please join us Wednesday June 12 at 7 at Gastronomie 491, 491 Columbus Avenue (between 83rd and 84th) for a tasting of six cheeses and six beers especially appropriate for the season. Martin Johnson, lead cheesemonger at Gastronomie 491 and the creator of The Joy of Cheese (in caps, the lower case invention was predated him by centuries) will talk about the cheeses. Maggie Fuller one of the leading beer authorities in New York and on of the two people behind 12 Percent Imports, a company responsible for some of the best Belgian, Scandinavian and North American beers in our collection. Expect rare. Expect exotic and most of all expect delicious. Tickets are $20.
