IOSIS Art Party and Breaks & Freaks: Primal Matter
On April 22nd, walk into the Capitol Hill Arts Center (CHAC) Showroom and experience the next level in performance art. With five suspensions throughout the night, realize the true beauty and grace of this art form. Starting center stage with the suspension of a Geisha, you'll begin your musical journey with Electric Mayhem from Portland. Moving into a tag team set by Osiris Indriya and Amanita, the mood is set for airbrush artists Sasha King, Eric Nez and Yvette to begin. Once Ticon from Sweden takes the musical controls, these artists will be inspired by "135 BPM of UNDULATING AND THROBBING DEPTH" to create new painting on human canvases hanging via suspensions. With this as the backdrop, we have the Orb suspension center stage. If suspension is a new art form for you, expect to expand your notion of what the human body is capable of.
If you find yourself over stimulated, take a walk through the chill space and down the stairs into the Lower Level, which will be brimming with circus freaks and broken beats. From acrobats to circus geeks, you'll experience all the things they don't allow in the big tent... eye lifts, bed of nails, tight rope unicycling and more. Sacrosanct starts the night off with sexy breaks. Moving through to Vancouver's Taal Mala, you'll dance surrounded by the carnival reverie. By the time Adam Ohana (SF) takes over, this sideshow spectacle will be in full force. Plan to stay until 4am because you won't want to miss the psychedelic breaks of DJ Fractalien from Portland.
Resist the urge to stay home!
