Daphnis et Chloé & Eugene Onegin
This double-bill is an exercise in contrasts. First is the idyllic opening of Tchaikovsky's tragic romantic masterpiece. We will meet all principal characters of the opera and will be left with a desire for this music to never end. Next is a one-act opera, a pastoral comedy from France, where the gods and wild Nymphs have to teach two mortals how to love each other.
Performed by emerging singers from all over the country participants of the Opera Academy of California Summer Program. "Daphnis et Chloé" conducted by Maestro Michel Singher, a renowned conductor of opera and directed by Richard Harrell, director of the Opera program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. "Eugene Onegin" conducted by Maestro Alexander Katsman, the Artistic Director of the Livermore Valley Opera and directed by Yefim Maizel, a guest stage director of the New York Metropolitan Opera and Artistic Director of the Opera Academy of California.
Young and exciting talent in an intimate setting. 4 performances only.
Different casts, no night is like another! Performed in French and Russian with English supertitles.
