TOUSSAINT MORRISON + DR. WYLIE'S TOTALLY RADICAL MIXTAPE RELEASE PARTY w/ RAS MOVEMENT, SAFARI AL and NICHOLAS J
It's not everyday you find a mixtape with samples from Feist, Chicago, and Weezer. But Toussaint Morrison is not your everyday artist. The Twin Cities native is a Renaissance Man in every sense of the word - an actor, nationally-acclaimed slam poet, rapper, teacher, and various other titles they haven't assigned words to yet.
The subject-matter of Morrison and DJ Dr. Wylie's 'Toussaint Morrison is Not My Boyfriend' is befitting of the man who brings in diverse influences and styles into his work. There are stories of racial inequality, requited love, and a meeting with a second grade cancer patient at a hospital. The overall theme is optimism, and we can definitely be optimistic that when the duo's next mixtape, 'Fast Times at Trillmont High,' is released on June 18th, we'll be similarly wowed by its depth of content. The concept album takes place at a fictional Milwaukee high school, with Morrison taking on the various personas of the school's students.
Optimism is something that R.A.S. Movement knows a little something about. The immensely popular Milwaukee reggae outfit will join Morrison and Wylie. Safari Al and Nicholas J will kick off the night, while Dr. Wylie will be administering 200 mg of jams between sets.
