Tales of the Forgotten North: Goat man - Goat woman
What are the stories that sleep beneath the ramparts of Yeavering Bell? of revered goats, the woad painted Celts, and the warrior kings. This evening storytellers Malcolm Green and Chris Bostock will tell imagined stories and local folktales with inspired images from the children of Glendale Middle School.
Archaeologist Paul Frodsham will place the tales within their historical and pre-historical context.
Online ticket sales will close midnight the night before the performance. Any remaining tickets will be available from 6.30pm at Kirknewton Village Hall.
A Bit Crack storytellers have embarked on an epic journey through Northumberland and the North Pennines, discovering Tales of the Forgotten North. Over the next two years Malcolm, Pascale, Pat and Chris will be creating stories from archaeological sites in the depths of North-East England with archaeologists Paul Frodsham and Jessica Turner.
Stories dreamt from the land will be created together with school children local to the archaeological sites. They will venture out into the wilds, seek treasure, stir their imaginations, map the ancient worlds, create artworks and their own original stories. Creating fiction from evidence given us by the rocks and stones and lumps and bumps in the ground. Making visible the invisible.
This performance forms part of our land journey a pilgrimage passing through these archaeological sites, where we will stop and share tales and meals together, sleep under the stars and dream the land.
