Political Portland Tour
Portland Politics connects Portland's political institutions, politicians and policies, providing an inside look at the city and the factors that shaped it. Learn how populism influenced urban planning, style and attitudes, while looking at the affects of Portland's distinct commissioner form of governance. This tour aims to show how the built environment can be linked to its political history, as well as how keys figures created the progressive policy the city is internationally known for today.
Tour Guide Biography The former and founding Managing Editor for local arts weekly the Portland Mercury, Phil Busse ran for Mayor of Portland in 2004, placing third out of 26 candidates. He manages the Media Institute for Social Change (MediaMakingChange.org) and teaches media production at Portland State University.
