Rumble Fish
Adapted from a novel by S. E. Hinton, this film takes place during a summer vacation. Mickey Rourke plays a former teen-aged tough who is idolized by his younger brother Matt Dillon. While Mickey would like to leave his wild days behind, Matt wants to reactive his brother's street gang. With Diane Lane, Dennis Hopper, Nicolas Cage, Chris Penn, Laurence Fishburne and Tom Waits.
"...offbeat, daring, and utterly original." ROGER EBERT
"If THE OUTSIDERS was a GODFATHER for teens, RUMBLE FISH was APOCALYPSE NOW. Filmed in dreamy black-and-white with an occasional dab of color, RUMBLE FISH is an unabashed art film. Deliriously expressionistic visually and aurally, it owes at least as much to the work of Jean Cocteau, Kenneth Anger, and F.W. Murnau as to the juvenile delinquent sagas of the 1950s." TV GUIDE
"A triumph of romantic impulse over stylistic indulgence." BOSTON GLOBE
"If Rumble Fish fails as a traditional movie about real people, it is beguiling as an exercise in hallucinatory style." TIME
