The purpose of the South Seattle Music Industry Summit is to:
-Facilitate networking and relationship building between Rainier Beach students, south Seattle based music makers, promoters, media, event producers/venue managers, educators and stakeholders in the broader music community
-Showcase the talent of the Rainier Beach High School Hip-Hop Club & Paul Robeson Orchestra
-Raise awareness about music related career paths including management, marketing, business administration, journalism, film/video, technology and education/human services
-Provide our Rainier Beach students and aspiring music entrepreneurs with valuable insights regarding making money from their creative talent.
-Increase awareness and community engagement with Seattle's City of Music Initiative
The event will feature a panel of industry stakeholders allowing students direct access to music industry professionals. Artists and local music industry professionals from Sub Pop Records, The Seattle Office of Film + Music, Sport-N-Life Records, KEXP, NARAS, Seattle Theatre Group, One Reel and others have committed to supporting the event and will provide valuable information networking and resources for aspiring musicians and creative professionals.

About Rainier Beach High School
Rainier Beach is a comprehensive high school with the smaller size that many parents prefer. This provides more personalized education in which the staff are able to know students well - a key factor in student achievement. Rainier Beach features Advanced Placement and honors classes, arts and music classes, Career and Technical Education(CTE), strong mentoring programs, a new computer science program and will be featuring International Baccalaureate (IB)program in the fall of 2013.
About City of Music Initiative
In 2008, the City launched the City of Music initiative to create action that enhances the climate for Seattle's music industry, and propels Seattle's leadership role in music throughout the nation and the world. The initiative brings musicians, audiences, business leaders, educators and politicians together in enthusiastic support of the creative, economic and culture value of music.
