Spice Journeys: Buying, Storing and Using Spices
Join Slow Food East Bay and Oaktown Spice owner John Beaver for an evening of Spice(y) discovery!
We will gather the evening of June 3rd, from 6:30 to 8:30pm to learn more about the history and origins of our common household staples, discuss buying options (whole or ground? wht exactly is a 'fresh' dried spice?) and then move on to expansion of our 'spice palates'. We'll taste a few things and then mix up our very own spice blend to take home.
Please note, we'll have a few snacks, but will not be serving a meal, so please come fortified by an early dinner.
What to bring? An open mind, an apron (or lab coat with your name embroidered on the chest pocket if you just happen to have one lying around), something to drink and the tools with which to take notes.
Cost is $15, which includes a $5 donation to Slow Food East Bay, which enables us to continue to support the local sustainable food community.
IF THE EVENT IS SOLD OUT, please email willow.slowfood@gmail.com and I'll put you on the wait list, in case we have any cancellations!
