Cris Williamson 30th Anniversary Show
Legendary singer/songwriter Cris Williamson brings her 30th Anniversary Show to Phoenix on Friday, April 7th at 8:00pm at Unity of Phoenix. Vicki Randle, Barbara Higbie and Teresa Trull join Cris for her Phoenix appearance.
Williamson's timeless classic, The Changer and the Changed, became one of the best-selling independent releases of all time, selling nearly a million copies. Williamson now honors her album's 30th Anniversary with a national tour of concerts. An impressive line-up of special guests will join Williamson along the way for this landmark celebration.
Williamson's anniversary concert program spans her 30-year career as a preeminent lesbian folk musician and returns to the values and strategies which, in 1975, fueled a movement and changed the world. The Changer and The Changed established Williamson as a guiding voice for a movement striving to liberate women, and launched what would become known as "women's music," music which was created, performed, and marketed specifically to women.
The Changer and The Changed was as much a political and cultural statement as it was entertainment, and is as powerful and relevant today as it was in 1975. With the emergence of a new generation of women, Williamson again finds herself as a loud and clear voice for women in today's political and social climate. With each 30th anniversary commemorative concert, Williamson, through her music and message, will challenge women, and all people, across America to join together to renew the spirit and hopes that surround The Changer and The Changed.
National sponsors of the 30th Anniversary Tour are Ms Magazine and The National Center for Lesbian Rights. The Phoenix Show is produced by Unity of Phoenix and Wolf Moon Records.
