Triumph of Love, CenterStage Theatre Co, July 25 - August 11
An anachronistic adaptation of the classic Marivaux comedy of the same name, TRIUMPH OF LOVE takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the lengths to which love can drive a person.
Along with their hilarious "henchmen," Princess Leonide and the handsome Agis become lost on the messy path to love. One of them loves the other. The other is planning to kill her, but unknowingly falls in love with her when she claims to be an on-the-run bride. This after Agis discovers she is not a male student, as her original disguise suggested -- a disguise that served convincing enough for another woman to fall in with her. All this fun and we've not yet made it to intermission! The riotous romp only gains momentum as multiple stories of swift infatuation come to a head for our cast of characters.
As part of the CenterStage Theatre Company's emerging artists program this production stars some of the best young actors in musical theater in the Denver/Boulder area. Two casts perform "Triumph of Love" in repertory:
"Athens" Cast: Michelle Herring, Tanner Sands, Nathan Lawrence, Victoria Baird, Sadie Trigg, Christopher Turner, and Matt O'Connor performs on July 27, 29, August 1, 3,9, 11.
"Thebes" Cast: Eve Olson, J. Tanner Kaler, Matt Good, Ellen Thompson, Sierra Pilkington, Christopher Turner and Matt O'Connor performs on July 25, 28, August 2, 4, 8, 10.
