Join Frank Ford owner of Gryphon Stringed Instruments, Palo Alto, CA; John Reuter, Director of Training at the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery, and Nicki Walters entrepreneur and tech for the Acoustic Vibe in Tempe, for an evening discussion about guitar repair and maintenance. The panel discussion will take place at The Listening Room Phoenix on Tuesday, January 15, from 7:00 9:00 PM. The evening starts with a live performance by guitarist extraordinaire Juano Lippi.
If you are a guitar player, at any level of musicianship, youll want to attend this informative event to learn the best tips for taking care of your guitar. You will also learn some basic setup and repair techniques to keep your guitar playing and sounding good, and youll hear some inside stories about repairing highly valued vintage guitars and contemporary guitars.
With over four decades hands on experience, Frank Ford is one of the foremost guitar repair techs in the world today. Frank created FRETS.com which is the most comprehensive website devoted to guitar repairs. Frank is the co-founder of Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo, Alto, California.
John Reuter has been building and repairing guitars since 1984, and has helped train over 2000 students in preparation for their careers in guitar making and repair at the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery.
Nikki Walters graduated from Roberto Venn in the Spring Class of 2013. Upon graduating, she was immediately hired by a local music store in Mesa and has been repairing instruments in the Valley ever since. She has a broad range of experience, including not only guitars, but all types of fretted instruments and orchestral instruments as well. Nikki currently operates her appointment only repair shop in Mesa, along with providing repair services at Acoustic Vibes Music in Tempe.
John "Juano" Lippi is an accomplished guitarist, singer-songwriter, recording-engineer, and music producer. Legendary producer Phil Ramone commented, Juano Lippi was born with some wizardry inside: Divinity meets the Devil. (Huffington Post)
This event is the second in a series and is presented by the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery, (Phoenix, AZ) preparing graduates for a creative vocation in guitar making and repair since 1975. William Eaton, co-founder and Director of the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix, will act as moderator. Roberto-Venn is the longest running guitar making school in North America and has graduated over 2500 students. Graduates work for large and small guitar making companies, music stores, apprentice with custom guitar makers, tour with bands as guitar techs, create their own custom guitar making start-ups, and find other related luthier jobs. Roberto-Venn is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Careers Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).
