The Valerio Aleman Quintet
The Valerio Aleman Quintet Trombonist, Composer, and Bandleader, Valerio Alemán was born in Chicago and raised in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He was introduced to music early in life through the CD collections of his mother and father. His musical journey was truly brought to fruition in his early middle school education when he joined the band and was given the trombone. He found a love for playing jazz that was fostered by his then band director Brett Kirby. In no time at all the trombone became an outlet for him to express his voice. Valerio spent his later summers in high school studying intensively at The Eastman School of Musics Summer Jazz Program honing his craft before continuing on to college. Currently attending The School of Jazz at The New School in NYC and pursuing a bachelors degree in Jazz Performance, Valerio has had the opportunity to study under many of today's jazz masters including Luis Bonilla, Bobby Sanabria, Jimmy Owens, David Schnitter, Armen Donelian, Gene Perla and Ben Allison. Playing a wide variety of genres from Jazz to Afro-Cuban to Indie-Rock, he has performed in venues throughout NYC including The Bronx Music Heritage Center, National Sawdust, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bowery Electric and Swing 46 among others.
