Bushwick Homebrew Tour and BBQ
Despite New York's gnat-size apartments, NYC homebrewers refuse to let space limitations detract them from their mission: crafting some of the city's tastiest beer. On this tour, you'll meet three of the city's finest amateur (and pro!) brewers, who will display their set-ups, discuss their craft and, most importantly, open up their stash of superlative beer.
On today's tour, we're going to visit a trio of homebrewers in Bushwick. First, we're going to meet Cole Emde and Jacqueline von Tesmar, who will be pouring a robust porter, a Citra-hopped pale ale and a saison dosed with Sorachi Ace hops. Next, we're going to visit Brooklyn Homebrew's Bahiyyih Comeau, who will be serving an oatmeal brown, several single-hop pale ales and a Belgian blonde. Lastly, we're going to visit Ryan McMahon, who should have some sublime IPAs, hopped-up brown ales and other treats on tap. Bonus: Since the homebrew tour takes place the day after the SAVOR beer-and-food fest, we're going to wrap up the event with a BBQ! Expect plenty of kielbasa, spicy Italian sausages and vegetarian delights as well. Note: the tickets cost an extra $5, which will cover the food.
Eat a big lunch. Your guide is NYC beer journalist and Brewed Awakening author Joshua M. Bernstein.
