Cathy has forged a life of wine that has spanned more than three decades. She discovered her passion for wine while pursuing a bachelor's degree in Biology at Pomona College and went on to complete a masters degree in Enology from the University of California, Davis in the mid-1970s. She gained extensive experience from her work at Chappellet Vineyard, Staglin Family Vineyard, York Creek Vineyards, and Long Meadow Ranch, where she was constantly honing her skills. These experiences left her eager to express her own winemaking voice. In 1987, Cathy made the first vintage of her Napa Valley Cabernet, despite not having a winery. Even when over-extracted Cabernets were in vogue in the 1980s and 1990s, Cathy was a pioneer, intent on making balanced Cabernet Sauvignons that spoke of place. Cathy has remained constant to her vision. Even five years ago, it wasnt fashionable to make wines like this, she says, but I couldnt make myself do anything else. We are excited to host Cathy, who will lead us through a vertical of her wines alongside a special menu crafted by Chefs Mark Sullivan and Rogelio Garcia. In addition, guests of the dinner will have the opportunity to purchase wine at retail pricing.
