DETOUR: A Show about Changing Your Mind
DETOUR will appear as part of the Whitefire Theatre solo fest. This special, one-night performance is Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 8-9 pm.
This is a 55-minute show with no intermission.
About Detour: Detour is a funny and inspiring solo show about accepting change, taking risks, and finding your path. Writer/Comedian, Diana Dinerman, provides a hilarious, thought-provoking and uplifting theater experience. A unique performer - introspective and wry, her comedy will make you laugh and make you think - she's the best combination of smarts and theatricality that American comedy has to offer.
About the Artist: Diana Dinerman is a writer, stand-up comedian, and actor. Her writing has appeared in The Routledge Encyclopedia of Modernism, Wifey.tv, and NastyWomenEverywhere. She performs monologues, stories, and stand-up across the US. She trained at the Indiana University School of Music & Theater and the Studio Theater Conservatory in Washington, DC, STEPS on Broadway, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, and Joy of Motion. Diana held faculty positions at Joy of Motion Dance Center in Washington, DC and the CityDance Center at Strathmore. She was a guest performer in Baryshnikov & White Oak Dance Project's Past Forward, a rehearsal director for the Life, Rhythm Move Project, and the Director of the Horton Summit. She's received multiple grants for her scholarship on race and performance, including the DC Commission for the Arts and Humanities, the Humanities Council, and the Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Minnesota. She was an invited speaker at the CLAGS Harry Hay Centennial and the Western Historical Association. She's held research fellowships at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and the University of Southern California. About the Director: Anne Hollister is a multi-hyphenate who recently transplanted to LA from New York City. She is a graduate of LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, Northwestern University, and the School at Steppenwolf. Her directorial credits include the 10th Anniversary production of CABERGAY at ACME Comedy, THE DAGGY KIDS, the short film IMPLICIT, and her web series CONVERSATIONS AT NIGHT. As an actor, Anne has appeared in the Broadway production of AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, the Fox Searchlight film CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME? directed by Marielle Heller, ONION NEWS NETWORK, STICKS, STRANGE ANGEL, and the forthcoming series EVERYONE IS DOING GREAT, directed by James Lafferty. She recently wrapped the short film THE GROUP CHAT, which she co-wrote with Pauline Chalamet. @mygirlanne
