Colonel Bruce Hampton and Friends
Jam with us in the country ONLY 30 miles South of Atlanta in beautiful Chatt Hills with food for sale from Mac The Cheese.
Biography: Col. Bruce Hampton has been making music since he formed his first band in 1963. The Colonel has been in constant motion ever since leaving a trail of memorable live performances with his many bands, including The Hampton Grease Band, The Late Bronze Age, and The Aquarium Rescue Unit (ARU.)
During the ARU days, The Colonel helped start the 1990's H.O.R.D.E. Festival with Widespread Panic, Phish, Blues Traveler, and Spin Doctors.
He has also appeared in the movie "Sling Blade" as poet and band manager Morris and starred in Mike Gordon's cult classic "Outside Out" as a mystical guitar 'out'structor. The documentary "Basically Frightened" debuted at the 2012 Atlanta Film Festival to rave reviews and chronicles Hampton's four decades of adventures in the entertainment business.
The Colonel is currently touring with keyboardist Jez Graham and a rotating cast of stellar musicians.
A fixture in the Atlanta music scene since 1988, James "Jez" Graham is a piano player, singer and songwriter. He has worked for years with the legendary Francince Reed and is a noted session musician.
Parker Smith and the Bandwith Parker Smith and the Bandwith landed their first gig in September 2010 and fans immediately took a liking to their unique sound. Musical influences range from Taj Mahal to Talking Heads, self-described "acoustic roots with electric sprouts." However, the band members attempt to steer clear of staying in one genre. They stress their passion about playing 'real music with real instruments' (no computers allowed on stage), and fans appreciate the originality and roots-oriented sound. As one fan put it, "The groovy songs get your feet thumping and the slower songs reel you in giving you a chance to feel something, more than what can be said of many local acts these days." Storytelling lyrics and wise tales accompany timeless melodies and unique arrangements with their tight-knit playing.
The band released their first album "Garden Hills" in June 2011, and continues to play around the Southeast as well. They look forward to their upcoming shows as well as continuing to expand their fan base throughout the East Coast.
