Perhaps during this past Thanksgiving holiday you experienced some unproductive conflict in your conversations among family and friends? Would you like to avoid that happening again?
In this turbulent political environment, the chasm is widening as many are becoming more polarized. People no longer know how to communicate with others who do not think the same way. This may elicit violent thoughts, comments, even actions. Learn how to navigate this challenging time by discovering and practicing positive strategies for reducing conflict and new ways of approaching disagreement.
In this hands-on, interactive session you will connect deeply with others, laugh, share and listen while practicing powerful skills. You will get an overview of learning conflict resolution, communication and leadership skills, this class can assist in enhancing self esteem, empowerment and help to improve relationships. You will leave the class being exposed to new tools to be able to clarify values, help to build community and consensus.
A team of experienced facilitators for the Alternatives for Violence Project, including Nancy Vimla, will lead the session. Begun in 1975, the AVP is an active worldwide nonprofit organization that facilitates workshops for youth, as well as in California prisons.
Through an international network of local chapters, AVP facilitators all trained volunteers offer workshops in the community for all who would like to reduce the level of unresolved conflict in their lives and the lives of those around them.
