Introduction To Long-Form Improv Course (103) [Edinburgh]
Overview: While most people familiar in anyway with improv will recognise the short-form style of improv comedy expertly displayed on shows such as "Whose Line is it Anyway?". There is, however, another style beloved around the world by performers and audiences alike: Long-Form!
This 8-week comprehensive course introduces and teaches the skills of long-form improv from beginning to performance level; looking at different structures for long-form shows and how a group can take a s ingle word suggestion and create a whole piece of theatre from it.
This course is ideally aimed at: those with some basic improv training and wishing to expand further; those who wish to specialise in long-form improv; performers with short-form background/experience wishing to become more relaxed and familiar with long-form improv.
In addition, there will be a performance opportunity at the end of this course which students are encouraged (but not required) to try. (Note: the details of the performance will vary depending on when/where the course is run).
Topics covered by workshop: Trust Ourselves, Trust Others Working Together as a Group Creating a Scene Character & Relationships Finding the Focus of a Scene Making Connections Exploring Themes Putting It All Together: The Harold Having Fun Creating New Theatre
Pre-requisite: Introduction to Improv (or proof of equivalent)
Dates and Times: Classes will be every Monday evening, 7-9:30pm, from 21 January 2019 - 18 March 2019 [*No class Monday 4th February*]
