Second Saturday Salon: An Evening of Music, Art & Food
Before the Sound Room there was Second Saturday Salon, a dinner, music and art event at Karen & Robert's house. As the Sound Room prepares to move to their new digs Second Saturday Salon is being relaunched - but in the 2.0 version. This will be a meal on par with the best restaurants in the area, coupled with an art show and topped with a great musical performance.

Let start with the food... A 5 course meal from star chefs with experience at local, national and international culinary hot spots.

House baked bread with smoked butter and mushroom pate

Zurek soup

Celery root, radish and pea salad

Peroigis - meat and vegetable

Osso bucco with parsnip pear puree

Panna Cotta

Then there is the art.... A new show from Maximilian Contemporary which is dedicated to promoting Latin American art in the United States and beyond through art exhibitions and collaborations with museums, journalists and documentary film makers.

And then there's the music ..... featuring Joyce Grant and Herman Eberitzsch on keys.

Joyce Grant, a mezzo soprano is also the great-great-niece of famed ragtime composer Scott Joplin.  Grant has been singing jazz in for over 20 years. A mezzo-soprano with a voice like dark honey, Grant has a performance resume which includes a wide range of venues including the Empire Plush Room, Cetrella in Half Moon Bay,  the Woodminster Amphitheater and Delta Jazz Society.

Born in Texarkana, the town where Scott Joplin was raised, Grant moved to Oakland as a child where she started singing with the North Oakland Baptist Church Youth Choir. Since that time she has earned the respect of singers and musicians alike performing professionally in San Francisco, the East Bay, Walnut Creek, Napa Valley and beyond. Her unique shows consist of a blend of jazz, blues, country western, Rhythm and Blues, and funk. Her vocal interpretations range from sensitive to powerful to cheeky over a broad spectrum of charts.
