Put Your Guns Down

Gun violence continues to plague our nation. Sandy Hook. Charleston. San Bernardino. Orlando. Las Vegas. Parkland. Baltimore. Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Thousand Oaks..., and the killing goes on. Mass shootings have nearly become routine news. Naming where they occurred is often enough to evoke fear, sorrow, or outrage.

How are we to heal? What is the path forward? Can anything be done? These are difficult questions to answer, and yet they are worthy of our reflection and discussion.

"Put Your Guns Down" will give voice to those whose lives have been unexpectedly and tragically cut short, convey the pain and suffering that this violence inflicts on those left behind, and call on everyone to become active peace-makers.

A live choral performance will be followed by a reception with light refreshments to give the audience the opportunity to react and discuss the performance and the issues with the performers and other attendees.

Featuring the group "Tonality" led by Alexander Lloyd Blake, "Put Your Guns Down" is co-presented by Congregation Tikvat Jacob Beth Torah, Manhattan Beach Community Church, and Pacifica Institute.
