The Glass Menagerie
Set in St. Louis in 1937, Tennessee Williams' Drama Critics Award winning play tells the story of the Wingfield family based in part on his recollections of his own family. Tom is a poet who works in a shoe factory, supporting his family. He yearns of freedom while caring for his overbearing mother, Amanda, who lives mostly in her debutante memories, and his sister, Laura who has been somewhat hobbled by polio. Laura's world consists of her glass collection of animals and her existence is as fragile as her figurines. This play is considered Tennessee Williams' masterpiece.
